SHSM Concussion Awareness Certification
The Concussion Awareness Certification provides students with a practical understanding of concussion prevention, recognition, recovery, and support. Drawing from current evidence and lived experiences, students explore how concussions impact individuals, schools, sport, and communities while developing the knowledge and confidence to respond appropriately when a concussion occurs.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this certification, students will be able to:
Define what a concussion is and explain how it affects the brain.
Recognize common signs and symptoms of concussion.
Understand the importance of early reporting, assessment, and medical care.
Describe evidence-based concussion recovery and return-to-learn/return-to-play principles.
Identify ways to support individuals recovering from a concussion at school, work, and in sport.

Seth Mendelsohn
Seth is the Co-Founder of HeadsupCAN and our Creative Director. He owns and operates Mendelsohn Media as a Videographer, Video Editor and Graphic Designer. He has extensive educational expertise and is passionate about creative avenues for storytelling.
